Kadal kadannu oru mathukutty is a Malayalam comedy drama
movie directed by Renjith, which had Mammooty in title role. Renjith delivered
some good cinema like Indian Rupee and Spirit just before this. And people
accepted well his ventuire with mammoty in Pranchyettan and the saint. Expectation
were high. The movie deals with a very simple story of a NRI called Mathukutty
who lives in Germany and his life and how it changes after coming to India for
a task.
This a typical Renjith movie where comedy and satire is
blended well. But there is nothing much in the story and Mammoty did not had
much to perform though he was good in that henpecked role. Movie moves with
snail pace. There were some genuine comical scenes. But altogether the movie
falls flat when compared Renjith’s earlier flicks.
Among performances everyone did their part well. There were many
cameo appearances by Mohanlal, Dileep, Jayaraam etc.. This really did not make
any impact, seems just added to attract the audiences.
Cinematography by Madhu Neelakandan was good. Visuals of the
Germany was very good.Music was not so good and Back ground score was just ok ok.
Renjith doing just rehash of his earlier movies instead of
experimenting something new which is expected from the talent ed film maker
like him.
