LUCIA (2013) KANNADA MOVIE REVIEW

TAKE A PILL AND DREAM BIG!!!

PRODUCER: AUDIENCE FILMS AND HOME TALKIES
DIRECTOR: PAWAN KUMAR
STAR CAST: SATHEESH NINASAM, SHRUTHI HARIHARAN, ACHUTH KUMAR
MUSIC: POORNACHANDRA TEJASWI

Lucia is one of the films which could change the trend in kannada film industry which is churning out the same formulaic mass masala films each year. As far as kannada film industry is concerned Lucia is one brave attempt which deals with Hollywood theme in mini budget and technology, and majority of the star cast being new actors. Tamil and Malayalam film industry already in the path of new generation cinema, after this movie kannada film industry may join them in little while.

Lucia is pill which helps you to dream whatever you wish and u can continue the same dream every night if you write down whatever you dreamt which makes the concept of the film. And script and narration is non linear in fashion and real time and flashback is also used with the dream sequences, which makes it little complicated still it can be understood by common man. Meanwhile it takes dig at the movie industry and its clichés in satirical way.

Major actors are new comers but you will never feel they are new since all acted their part very well. Satheesh was excellent his character had many shades both real and dream character. Shruthi and Achuth were very good too. Camera work was outstanding. And editing was the main strength of the movie. Back ground score was apt but songs were not up to mark. In fact songs were the speed breakers. Without song and some cinematic clichés movie would have been lot better. Watch this awesome movie with subtitles if you don’t understand kannada.

THE TOURIST 2010 HOLLYWOOD MOVIE REVIEW

NOT SO GOOD, NOT SO BAD EITHER!!!

Producer: GK films
Director: Florian Henckel Von Donnersmarck
Star cast: Johnny Depp, Angelina jolie
Back ground music: James Newton Howard

The tourist directed by Florian henckel von donnersmarck, the movie generated curiosity among movie lovers because it had star cast like Johny depp and Angelina jolie. After releasing the movie most of the critics gave negative reviews. In spite of the negative reviews movie was a BO success. The tourist can be considered as an underrated movie.

The story revolves around a thief called Alexander pierce, who is equally wanted for police department as well as a gangster. Both teams wanted to get him by following his girl friend Ellise. The movie is s suspense thriller told through a romantic angle. It is not a racy thriller, still manages you to entertain and does not drag much. Plot involves many twists, some can be predicted and some surprises you.

The lead performance comes from Anjelina jolie and Johny depp. Other cast also delivered decent performances. Camera work captured the beauty of venice and and chase sequences shot well. The main plus point of the movie was the back ground score from James newton howard.

KRRISH 3 (2013) HINDI MUSIC REVIEW

Average Stuff in Super Hero Movie!!!

PRODUCER : RAKESH ROSHAN
DIRECTOR: RAKESH ROSHAN
STARCAST: HRITHIK ROSHAN, VIVEK OBEROI, PRIYANKA CHOPRA, KANGANA RANAUT
MUSIC: RAJESH ROSHAN

\

KRRISH 3 is the third installment in the series Koi mil gaya and Krrish, which tell the story of a alien which gives super natural powers to the herpo portrayed by Hrithik roshan. Touted to be the first super hero of hindi film industry. Previous two installments were huge BO success, and music also loved by audience.
But this time music fails big time, not even one which stays in your heart or mind. Songs sounds as if it is made movies of 80’s or 90’s.
Time has moved and the taste of new generation is different and rajesh roshan failed to understand the pulse this time.
MUSIC ALBUM CONSIST OF 4 SONGS AND 2 REMIXES

1)      KRRISH KRRISH  is the first track of the album, which falls flat. Just a rehash of 90’s song. Which may appeal to the kids.
2)      Raghupati raghav is party song which is comparatively better than the first, rajesh roshan tried hard to make it funky by forcefully inserting some rap.
3)      Dil tu hi bata is the only melody duet in the album, nothing new to offer. Very similar to the tunes of himesh.
4)      God allah aur bhagwaan : it may appeal only to kids, and wont stay in your heart. Just an average stuff.
Album also includes remixes of the song Dil tu hi and Raghupati raghav.

RED WINE (2013) MALAYALAM MOVIE REVIEW

NOT SO TASTY ONE !!!

Director:SALAM BAPPU
Producer: GIREESH LAL
Star Cast: MOHANLAL, FAHAD FASIL, ASIF ALI, SAIJU KURUP, MIA GEORGE, ANUSREE
Music:BIJIBAL

Red wine suppose to be a suspense thriller, generated curiosity among movie lovers since it also had Mohanlal in the lead cast. But mohanlal’s role limited to a extended cameo as investigating officer.

Movie revolves around a murder of young wanna be politician who is also a drama artist. Here the murderer is known to viewer in the beginning itself but the motive and the conspirators of the murder revealed in the climax.

A simple story told in a non linear pattern with help of the flashback was a good attempt. For those who watch Hollywood thrillers it may not be a new thing. Still movie is watchable without any boredom.

The camera work was outstanding, and back ground score and songs by bijibal was the back bone of the movie, direction was good and needed improvement in the scripting.

The surprise element was missing which was the USP of suspense thrillers. Fahad and Asif ali did their part well. And as usual Mohanlal’s presence was a big plus for the movie.

OYE LUCKY LUCKY OYE (2008) HINDI MOVIE REVIEW

Beware !!! He will steal your heart !!!

PRODUCER : UTV MOTION PICTURES
DIRECTOR: DIBAKAR BANARJEE
STAR CAST : ABHAY DEOL, PARESH RAWAL, NEETHU CHANDRA, ARCHANA POORAN SINGH
MUSIC: SNEHA KHANWALKER

Oye lucky lucky oye was critically acclaimed and BO success movie directed by talented Dibakar Banarejee. It’s a simple story told in very interesting way. Director used humor with satire perfectly.

The approach was very realistic; the star casts were chosen very precisely. Each one delivered top notch performance. Paresh rawal appeared in multiple roles. Abhay deol was cool.

All the new comers delivered promising performances .The robbery scenes were interesting and looked very convincing unlike most of the similar movies of similar genre.

Movie often goes to flashback and real time sequences. Towards climax there little dragging, still does not bore you much.

The camera work was excellent, so as the back ground score. Songs were peppy. Many old songs were used which were apt for the situation.

It was perfect blend of technical department with the solid performance of actors. Director used the entire department well. He proved not much of masala needed to make an entertainment filled commercial cinema.

Verdict: grab your copy of DVD!!!
