TRIANGLE (2009) ENGLISH MOVIE REVIEW

THE MIND BENDING ANGLE!!!

PRODUCER: JASON, JULIE AND CHRIS
DIRECTOR: CHRISTOPHER SMITH
STAR CAST: MELISSA GEORGE, MICHEAL DORMAN, RACHEAL CARPANI, HENRY NIXON
MUSIC: CHRISTIAN HENSON

TRIANGLE is a British English movie directed by Christopher Smith released in 2009 in Europe. It’s a psychological mind bending thriller. The movie got positive reviews from most of the critics and did well in box office. Still this movie can be considered as under rated movie in international circuits.

Plot of the movie is very complicated. It revolves around lead character called Jesse, who goes to a sailing trip with her friends in a boat and what happens there after and how she survives the situation make the story line. More plot revelation will be a spoiler. As story unfolds it gets more complicated. Right from the beginning one has to pay full attention for each and every scene to get full entertainment. Movie running time about only 1 hr 30 min but its sure to take you for a Roller coaster ride.

The performance from Melissa should be applauded. What a tremendous talent she is. Whole movie is on her shoulder. And she did complete justice to her role. Other actors did well too. The writer an director Christopher Smith delivers a solid nail biting, mind twisting thriller. Ever after watching movie you will think about it again and again to get more confused. Hence a second watch also recommended. BGM and camera work should get a special kudos. Graphic works were apt. Overall it should there in your movie collection.

HIGHWAY (2014) HINDI MUSIC REVIEW

Highway is a bollywood road movie directed by Imtaiz ali after the success of Rockstar. it is second project with A. R Rahman. Rockstar music was widely appriciated and the the combination of Imtaiz and Rahman created huge expectation for the music.

Rahman's previuos projects in hindi Jab tak hai jaan got mixed reviews and critics were rating it just average album. but as usual he bounce back with Raanjhnaa which was success. same happend with last 2 tamil albums Kadal got mixed reviews where as Maryaan's music was appreciated. Ruling the Indian music industry for over 2 decades and being the first option for each and every movie maker A R Rahman delivers some interesting tunes in the album Highway.

1) Pathaka guddi : the first track of album, its a energetic soofi music with some soothing flute interludes with some folk touch here and there. Nooran sisters rocked it. it has some typical Rahmanic touch (the last hummings part was awesome). Anyways its not his best kind of song still far better than so called bollywood number which you get to hear nowadyas.

2) Maahive : Second track is sung by Rahman himself, its a romantic number in Rahman style. Catches up with you instantly. with beautiful lyrics it takes you to another world. You will play it in loop and going to addicted to this track.

3) Tu kuja:another soofi with folkish song sung superbly by Sunidhi, Rahman does in his style. lyrics by Irshad kamil is another highlight. will appeal Rahman fans instantly.

4) Heera : sung by Shwetha pandit, is a smooth melodiuos track.it 's also has some folk touch. Violins bits are good.but not all near to the Rahman's standard.

5) Kahaan hoon main :Sung by Jonita Gandhi, its a Jazz based song which has numerous Piano elements in it. a melodiuos song with bit complex structure which will grow on repititive hearing.

6) Wanna mash up : sung by Suvi Suresh is a party song with rap and heavy electronic sound to it. usually this kind of party song by Rahman draws crticism. though its not a great track let see how its been used in movie and how situation suits to it.

7) Sooha saha : sung by debutatnt singer Aliya Bhatt herself and impresses with her voice, like most other songs of this album this is also a folk mixed melody song. Flute bits were nice to ears.

8) Pathaka guddi Male version : sung by Rahman himself is more westernized version and his voice gives a special magic touch to it and sound lot better than the female version.

Overall its not the best from Rahman still far better from the so called good music from bollywood music. its a mixture of melody and folk sound, backed with some good lyrics. Pick of the album Maahi Ve by Rahman himself.

JILLA (2014) TAMIL MOVIE REVIEW

UNDERDEVELOPED JILLA!!!

PRODUCER: R.B CHOUDARY
DIRECTOR: R. T NEASON
STAR CAST: MOHANLAL, VIJAY, KAJAL AGGARWAL, SAMPATH, MAHAT
MUSIC: D. IMMAN

Jilla is a magnum opus from the one of the leading producer R.B Choudary, with 2 biggest superstars in leading cast, what else required for a huge hype and expectations. But every expectation turned into disappointment and film fails to impress big time. Vijay was back on track after back to back hits and Mohanlal after Drishyam, when both come together in one screen lot more is expected. After not so successful debut in “Muruga” in 2007 its his second venture and yes huge burden on his shoulder to direct two big icons. Not an easy task though he could not make an impact in JILLA.

Jilla is a action drama film which also had some humorous situations and the song and dance filled in between just to make it as cpmplete masala entertainer for a festival season. The plot of movie is done to death formulaic don, his family and a traitor kind of Godfather inspired and indianised story that we have heard over and over again. Nothing new offered to us. Movie is over 3 hours in length and many song and poor comedy scenes incorporated in the name of masala.

Film starts of well in the flashback and character introduction and after 20 min into movie there is nothing much happening. Then movie simply drags and many unwanted scenes happening till climax. Only Vijay’s character got major role and all the other actors had only some minor scenes. Mohanlal’s character is wasted because of poor writing. Only his acting is the plus point of the movie otherwise it would have been a dud. Comedy track from Suri was not up to the mark. Kajal limited to the dance sequences.

Camera work was stylish, so as the stunt sequences. Music from D.Imman was the biggest plus point for the movie. But movie fails in the writing and direction. Theme music was electrifying and the BGM rocked. Songs were above average. Choreography was good.

Verdict : Very Average!!!
