DRISHYAM (2013) MALAYALAM MOVIE REVIEW

FAMILY THRILLER!!!

PRODUCER: ANTONY PERUMBAVOOR
DIRECTOR: JEETHU JOSEPH
STAR CAST: MOHANLAL, MEENA, SHAJON, SIDDIQUE, ASHA SHARATH
MUSIC: ANIL JOHNSON, VINU THOMAS

Drishyam is Director Jeethu Joseph’s fourth venture after hugely successful memories with Pritviraj. His debut as director was the investigation thriller Detective which had interesting plot but execution was not up to the mark. But he improved drastically after each film and Drishyam can be considered as his best till date. His three films are thrillers and he delivers best in this genre. After Memories now he is considered one of leading and very promising among new comers.

Drishyam gives much needed relief to Mohanlal too. After not so success in last few movies he delivers best performance with help of good script and dialogues. The movie did not had any big hype which usually comes with the Mohanlal and the trailers did not reveal story plot, which really helped the film. Family thriller is a genre which is very rare and gives completely fresh feeling for a Malayalam audience.

First half of the movie takes its time to develop characters and the plot for the second half. It had some genuine comic scenes and link for the second half. After interval movie takes turn and becomes thriller and there many situations will amaze you. And you keep guessing the plot and unveiling of the story thrills you to the core.

Hats of to writer and director Jeethu Joseph, his hard work can be seen throughout the movie. He had good support from camera department handled by Sujith and nice apt background score by Anil Johnson. As usual Mohanlal delivers solid performance along with Meena. Shajon shocks us with his carrer best role. Others did their part well. The only negative part of the movie was casting of some minor characters, otherwise it is a near to perfect thriller.

  4. I’m From Tamil Nadu, I like Malayalam Movies very much, in contrast I heard many Malayalam people like VIJAY, AJITH, SURYA, ALLU ARJUN. Tollywood is completely opposite to molly wood, whereas kolly wood is mixture of both the tolly wood and molly wood. Movies Made by Malayalam Industries are heart warming and life oriented, where you can at least learn something for your Life. I wish People from Malayalam film industry release their movies in Tamil with subtitles so that it will reach wider audience. Because artistic work should reach more people in the world. I used to read all the latest Kerala News in Malayalam from this site, check it , would be useful.

  5. Hai, I’m From Tamil Nadu, I love Malayalam Movies, and they are soft romantic and gentle. On the whole Malayalam movies give a gentle good feeling without much violence (from the films I watched). I have only one thing to say for Malayalam Industry, Really the actors should look after their physique both male and female actors. Malayalam Actors who work in other Industries have transformed very well about their physique. Those who did thing are still in the Industry and those who don’t are disappeared long ago. Nayanthara is the perfect example for this. In every other technique Malayalam is much better than the other Industries In India. I hope someone will listen and think about this. I read lot of
Malayalam cinema news (chalachithram ) mollywood news
here. Hope you enjoy too. Wishing a great year for Malayalam film Industry.
